Gears Of War

It seems gauche to link to items that both Jason and Robin already got to, but I can't let this Gears of War promo go by. (Song reminder: that's a cover of Tears for Fears' "Mad World," which appeared on the Donnie Darko soundtrack.)

I was at Marie Antoinette last weekend and this 'preview' played before the movie. I was immediately engaged from the song because I knew I had heard it before and that it had been in a context that I enjoyed. It took me a few minutes to piece the together visual in my head, but eventually I got to Donnie Darko and was happy. Then it struck me that I remember movies in much the same way I remember ex-girlfriends and I felt a little shallow.

I'm much better at remembering movies, actually.

So many fanboys are actually angry about that song being used.
One of the kids I teach told me all about how the game MUST be bad if they're using a "wuss" song.
No accounting for taste, I guess.

Thank you THANK YOU for the song reminder. I knew I heard it before, and could not remember what the significance of that song was (T4F cover). That commercial is eerie....I now want an Xbox)

Non, il est un cover.

"Mad World"

The original is from 1982. This cover is from Gary Jules, used in Donnie Darko.
