Question of the Day

Newsvine has launched a new feature: Question of the Day. The best answer each day this week wins one of those iPod + Nike thingies. Me likey. [via]

I guess it's cool, except that today's question is almost completely subjective. I'm just not sure I see the value of this in a news context - it either devolves in to a "no, YOU'RE wrong!" pissing match or you force questions that aren't terribly newsy ("how do I keep my cat from pissing on my carpet?").

But hey, free iPod, folks are sure to throw their hat in the ring. Shrewd, Davidson, shrewd.

Asking objective questions would be no fun since you'd have to just award the first "right" answer (which would surely come within minutes, no matter how hard the question).

Notice that we turned off threading for this feature so people aren't really encouraged to argue or base their comments off the comments of others. We may even eventually hide all responses until, say, halfway through the contest, and then show them all and turn on voting. It's definitely v1.

But Jim, if you win, how about this: we'll swap the iPod for a Zune! A brown one even! :)
