Idea: a chain of popup stores. (I don't know what it even means, but it seems like everything is now either a chain or a popup store.)
Breaking: the trailer to Juno is out. Stars include Jason Bateman and Michael Cera, opens December 14. (Juno was written by Minneapolis pal Diablo Cody.)
I saw the movie in Telluride. It's good. The acting and the writing are pretty outstanding. The visual design is a little too cute (and sure evidence that studios are just starting to pass around memos about how kids like Napoleon Dynamite), but it's not fatal. It was HUGELY popular at both Telluride and Toronto, with all audiences, and it looks like Fox, emboldened by that, is going to push for Oscars. Judging by the rate of hype it's accruing on film sites, I'm guessing the backlash will have come and gone by the time it opens.

Maybe you'll tell us the back story behind the told ya so's on mnspeak. Did you tell everyone two years ago that this ex-stripper would write words that would be uttered on celluloid by Dwight Schrute and everyone said get out of here and you said no, no, it's true, just wait... is that what happened?

Something like that. I've been a Diablo fan (and friend) for a long time. MNspeak had a very negative thread about her one time....

Well, good for her. If I ever write anything made into a movie with that kind of cast, I'll be happy.
