Trent, here's some other things that may be adding to your not-so-cool feeling:
spotty career output, waning relevance to anyone other than 13 year old goth girls, bloated sense of self-importance continually mocked...

That's what bothered me about the quote. Shouldn't you outgrow worrying about being cool by then - especially alone, at home, buying music off the internet?
