Digital Predix

Kevin Kelly: "Digital things I've been wrong about." A list of predix he got wrong -- Photoshop, Quicken, eBay, etc. What would be at the top of my list? Easy: Huffington Post. The internet, after all, is supposed to be anti-celebrity, yet it continually proves me wrong. So, your biggest prediction gaffe?

I also thought Huff Po was not going to work, certainly not as well as it did. I thought Odeo was a sure thing. And Engadget...I had no idea there was room on the web for two Gizmodos.

Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD.

Sony had a terrible track record of format wars, so I figured they'd managed to lose again. Whoops. At least I haven't bought any hi-def movies or players yet.

Old(er) people using the web.

They've not only caught on (sorta), they're making new and funded sites like the WOW moms page, and driving up the HuffPo's page counts.

I gotta go with the video iPod. Not that I thought it would fail - I just didn't think it would be that big a deal. (One of the only LR debates ever was on this topic.) Then iTMS goes and sells video for it, and it's a hit. Damn Bergman was right.
