Scare Charts
Via Denton, I propose a new term for the media lexicon: Scare Charts. STOP TRYING TO FREAK ME OUT, DUDE!

I think Denton writing posts like this is the most amazing display of Machiavellian behavior I've seen on the internet.
He's done it before (killing Sploid, Screenhead - his more recent sell off of Idolator, Wonkette) but never in an economic environment like this.
If you were thinking of either a) starting a competitor to Gawker or b) funding a competitor to Gawker or even c) providing a new round of funding to a competitor to Gawker, you are now freaking out and will not pull the trigger.
I know it's bad and it's time to batten down the hatches but haven't we seen this before. As goes Denton, follows Calacanis, follows the internet pop wisdom.
