The Fake News Index

I have a chart in the new issue of Wired (the one with Ray Ozzie on the cover): The Fake News Index. It uses the axis of Commentary v. Comedy and Slapstick v. Sophisticated to chart out such things as Weekend Update, Obama Girl, The Onion, Colbert, The Daily Show, John Hodgman, Fake Steve Jobs, and so forth.

I find it interesting that you decided to use Orson in this chart. I've always been fascinated with the evolution of PR into more of a MSM manipulation entity. It also reminds me of the theories around scientific stories planted years ahead of time in credible news websites, for Cloverfield. I can't find the link atm, but blurring the line between fact and fiction is something I've always wanted to have more control over.

If Ben Karlin is in the middle of this nexus, lord help us all. Or at least provide us comedy lovers/creators with knife-in-back protecting armor.

His career is based on solely taking the credit for work others slaved to produce. The fact he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and then snatches the stainless steel spoons out of others mouths is even more sickening. Beware folks.
