Crash
JG Ballard died today. Just a couple days ago Joanne (who has a great obit) gave me Super-Cannes as a gift. Also recommended: Crash, The Atrocity Exhibition, Concrete Island, and Cocaine Nights.

Yep it's a sad day. It's really strange because I was watching Empire of the Sun on TV when my gf ran down and said she'd heard the sad news on the radio. It made the film feel a lot darker than usual, he had a difficult and challenging life and less success and respect than he deserved. I used to love reading his apocalyptic novels like Crystal World and Wind From Nowhere. He will be missed most by the literary, film and arts world but somehow I feel his intricacy and finesse won't be passed on in the "movie" industry for the future.
