The Squeaky Apple Leaks

Have you noticed that we seem to have more "inside leaks" about the reported Apple tablet than any product in that company's history? (Another one today.) I see three potential explanations: 1) There's a new squeaky wheel inside Apple. 2) It's the kind of product that more people need to see, so the risk is greater. 3) They're intentionally leaking it from the inside.

I'm betting it's the last one. This is Apple's way of placing a subliminal suggestion in your noggin that says, "You don't need a Kindle just yet."

Yeah, I think it's the last one too. And I think they have to 'cause it's (sorta') a new type of device - let people imagine what they could do with, let people write the posts/articles etc., and then, when it's released, it just 'makes sense'.

That's why, for all its usual smartness, I disagreed with Anil's secrecy post - it discounted how important desire/the unconscious are to Apple's cachet.

The kindle is completely tied to e-ink and reduction of eyestrain. I see this tablet as butting heads directly with mr. leaky faucet himself michael arringtons crunchpad.

But the best part is that the codename is "Newton"

Tablet PCs don't sell. The iTablet won't fit in your pocket (at any of the sizes they're thinking). It's a risk they need to warm people up to. Personally... I would by my first Apple product (myself) ever if it came out tomorrow!

I can't write as fast as I can type.
And I can't type as fast without physical feedback from a keyboard.

I'm skeptical that Apple is producing a tablet-only, general purpose PC.

My theory: A geek version of fan fiction. Every blogger who has ever posted anything about Apple has independently decided to make up stuff about the device and pretend it has been leaked from some Apple supplier. I know I do it all the time.
