Micropayments Are Coming, But Probably Not Here

Google is developing a micropayment system, with the idea that new orgs could use it, but given these terms they never would.

Webmasters, at least some of them, have been wanting a viable micropayment system forever. Companies like BitPass have tried it and failed miserably. But if we can get a working micropayment solution, it opens up a whole new realm of internet commerce. Top blogs selling for 5 cents a read, YouTube launching a premium service where you pay 2 cents to see videos without commercials or at a higher bandwidth rate. There really are a lot of possibilities.

I really hope Google can pull it off. It would be good for everyone.
