The Daily Caller
Tucker Carlson launched his new thing today: The Daily Caller. It's an exact mix of HuffPo and Drudge, and just as ugly as you'd expect that to be. (A ticker? Seriously, a ticker?) [via]

Is it sad that I got to the registration, saw "Must be at least 4 characters, letters and numbers only" next to USERNAME, couldn't think of a decent character to append to my initials and gave up on the site completely? There's a UX lesson in here somewhere...or a mental problem with me. Perhaps both.

Ugly, but guess what? Tucker's got tons of people who are going to contribute, presumably for nothing, plus his own not inconsiderable capacity to self-promote. Know what that means? .He's going to get more hits in one day than the elegant Fimoculous.com is going to get in 9 months. Alas, life is not fair. Believe it or not, and I know it may be a shock, but people ARE interested in content above asethetics--which is why every single political-media type has Drudge as their home page.
