The Public Facebook
Battelle says, very simply, that the reason Facebook should go public is that it will end up being accountable about the issue of privacy. (Conversely, maybe that's the reason they never will hold an IPO?)

I'm not really sure why he thinks that a public corporation is accountable to all of its customers and not just the shareholders. It's also interestingly wrong that he thinks that facebook's customers are its users.
