Mad Men Fonts

I know some seriously uptight people who are seriously gonna freak out about this very serious issue: The font used in the credits of Mad Men is Arial, not Helvetica.

Ohmagah!

(fanning vapors)

I'm no font expert, but remember this article from the Times Magazine? Very interesting for a laywoman like myself, and an article which can be perfectly summarized by looking only at it's "Corrections" section:

An article on Aug. 12 about typographical changes in American road signs refers erroneously to one adaptation of the Clearview typeface for standard design applications. A Greek version is planned; it does not yet exist.

Wow, I did not know Arial was the Chinatown Prada bag of fonts! How gauche! Once again, the Internet chips away at my innocence.

What's the policy: is it mandatory that I now sheepishly acknowledge my own it's / its slipup? I would think that in a wonky font thread it must be.

You're just lucky you didn't try sneaking in a smart quote.

As long as it's not GiddyUp, I don't give a fuck.

mad men’s typographic mistake: kind of a big deal: the closing credits on mad men are in arial, not helvetica. [via] also, the famous “medium is the message” line from season one is a mistake as mcluhan hadn’t published it by 1960.
