Japan Is Not Funny Anymore

Tim Rogers has lived in Japan for several years. He's sick of it -- very, very, very sick of it. So sick of it, he's written one of the longest* blog posts in the history of blog posts to explain all the ways he's sick of it. I didn't read the whole thing, but most of it seems to be because they put meat on everything and scream all the time.

*Errol Morris is probably his closest competitor. --ADM

When people ask, "Who is the Lester Bangs of games journalism?" (and they do, frustratingly), Tim Rogers is the best answer. He writes long, stream-of-conciousness articles that are supposedly about, say, Final Fantasy, but mostly talk about some girl he had sex with or some rock show he played at with his band.

People often think he's insufferable, but he hits upon some gems.

"As usual, I'm probably over-thinking this. Maybe I'm just in the wrong country for over-thinking.". YES YOU ARE.

Clearly the country of Japan is failing at its primary duty of entertaining jaded Americans. (I haven't even read 1/20th of the post and already I HATE it, deeply and personally.)

And that's when I clicked close-tab: in addition to not being able to tolerate second-hand smoke, and being a vegetarian, he's "allergic to alcohol."

LOL- it kind of makes you wonder why on earth is this guy still living in Japan! Surely he can go back home and still get the stuff he likes, which seems to be just trains, music and video games.
